Enter an Allowlist with Mint Wallet and Proving the Token Ownership on Cold Wallet

HeyMint allows you to join an allowlist that requires an NFT ownership using a different mint wallet but proves your token ownership on your cold wallet. This way, you can protect your cold wallet's assets whenever you are joining the allowlist that has a token requirement.

What you should only do is connect and verify your cold wallet to your HeyMint account so that you don't need to connect it again to project pages for allowlists. The system will just check your cold wallet address and there is no need to connect it to project pages just to confirm your ownership.

If you don't feel comfortable connecting your cold wallet even with HeyMint, you can also verify your ownership by using Opensea.

Here is a quick guide on how you can do it:

Connecting Cold Wallet to Metamask

Before connecting with Heymint, you should first connect your cold wallet to your Metamask.

Please make sure that your cold wallet is already connected to your computer before connecting it to Metamask or any blockchain wallet.

  • Open and sign in to your Metamask wallet then click on the circle image located in the upper right corner.

  • Click on connect hardware wallet.

  • Choose your cold wallet brand, and follow the next steps that your wallet will ask until you are connected.

  • From the list, choose the wallet address that you want to use as your mint wallet address then click Unlock button.

  • After all the steps, Metamask will already have your Cold wallet address on its list.

Connecting and Verifying Cold Wallet Address to Heymint

After successfully adding your cold wallet address to your Metamask, you should add and verify it to your HeyMint account.

  • Go to your Allowlist Manager Dashboard and click on My wallets.

  • Click on + Add another ETH wallet.

  • Click on Metamask.

  • Then click on Request Signature.

  • Metamask will pop-up, and click on Sign in.

  • After completing the steps, your cold wallet address will be listed on your My wallets.

Congratulations! Now you don't need to connect your cold wallet to project pages just to prove your token ownership. The system will automatically check it for you, and you can use a different mint wallet to own new NFTs.

  • Here's an example of how it should look when you are trying to register to an allowlist with token ownership required:

You will have a drop-down list to choose your cold wallet address just to check your balance and/or NFT ownership (you don't need to connect your cold wallet on the page) and another drop-down list to choose your mint wallet address.

You can register multiple wallets on your heymint account so you can have more options when joining allowlists.

To provide a concrete example, let us consider two scenarios:

In Case A, a user joined an allowlist by connecting their cold wallet to prove ownership of the required NFT.

In Case B, the user used a new mint wallet to join the allowlist but provided their cold wallet address to verify token ownership.

When it comes time to mint the token, the project will provide its own webpage for the minting process.

In Case A, the user will be required to connect their cold wallet directly to this unknown webpage to complete the minting process, which could potentially put their assets at risk.

In contrast, in Case B, since the user provided a new mint wallet, their assets in their cold wallet will remain secure, as they only need to connect their new mint wallet to the webpage to mint the new token.
